I Remember...

Welcome to Five Minute Friday over at Lisa-Jo's place.  Today's writing prompt?   Dance

I remember sliding across the slick dance floor in my shiny black patent leather shoes at my many, many cousins weddings as a little girl.  And I remember my mom and aunts teaching me how to dance the polka at those same weddings.

I remember my father playing his accordion  in the kitchen on Sunday afternoons and dancing to the music he made.  I remember doing the twist and other made-up dances to music on the radio while my parents laughed at my antics.

I remember high school dances and hoping some boy would ask me to dance and I remember as a teenager at my big sister's wedding feeling a warm glow when a  dance partner told me I had beautiful eyes.

I remember dancing with my husband as we dated  We didn't dance at our wedding because there was no music, but we have danced to our own music as we sang together and danced across the kitchen floor wherever we have lived.

I remember my husband placing tiny little baby feet on his big daddy feet and dancing with our four children across the floor and their giggles and delight.

Times up, again.

I realized as I wrote that dancing is closely connected to joy and laughter in my memories.  I don't associate dancing with sadness, loneliness or loss, so perhaps we will dance in heaven as we experience ultimate joy and happiness in the presence of our Lord.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat on the prompt: “Dance” with no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community

  6. How blessed to have memories that make us smile. God was so good to give us memory, dance, and joy. And so good to heal memories that hurt or use them for our growth if we will let Him. Thanks for sharing your joyful memories and dancing with us.
