Small Miracles

Actually, there are no small miracles.

We take breathing for granted because we've done it every day of our lives. However, if you have emphysema, every breath is laborious. If we breathe easily we can praise God for every breath. It is not a small miracle it is amazing; our heart beats, our lungs expand, oxygen is inhaled, carbon dioxide is expelled, and we don't even have to think about it.

Flushing the toilet is an automatic task (unless you are a child). Do you ever consider the amazing fact that our waste is cleanly and neatly disposed of? Or the fact that we even have a private little room in our home into which we can retire to accomplish this need? Talk to our brothers and sisters in Third World countries about how they deal with this life necessity. Not a small miracle.

Blazing sunsets, warm hugs, fresh coffee, fuzzy socks, bright lights, ten fingers - none of these is a small miracle but a glorious gift making our lives more pleasant, easier, beautiful.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows. - James 1:17.

    1. If we don't appreciate the small blessings, will we even see the big ones?

  6. Amen. Small miracles and blessings are indeed big ones for most of us if we truly consider what the rest of the world has.

  8. Hi Elizabeth! I love the 'everyday blessings' that you point out for praise. You are so right! It's easy to feel abandoned, as we flush our toilets and effortlessly breathe.

    Good perspective!

    Happy Monday!
