Adopting the Right Attitude

Welcome to the Blogging from A-Z April Challenge 2013. I'm aiming for short, interesting, entertaining and occasionally insightful posts. Topics addressing transitions are the goal . . . but we'll see.

Adopting the right attitude can convert a negative stress into a positive one.
Dr. Hans Selye

Transitions are not only physical, but mental and emotional too. Selye's comment on changing our attitude is key to living an optimistic life over a pessimistic life, a healthy life over an unhealthy one, a joyful life over a discontented one.

It's all about choices.

One person is raised in an alcoholic home and becomes an alcoholic. Another person, also raised in an alcoholic home, chooses to drink little or not at all, chooses to not be defined and limited by a difficult childhood and strives to live a physically, mentally and emotionally healthy life.

Adopting the right attitude can help us leap over many negatives on our life's road and not get stuck  in the potholes as long as we choose to turn the negatives into positive learning tools.

  1. Yes. We always get to choose how we respond to what's happening around us!

    1. Once we realize that, I think a sense of freedom is realized rather than a feeling of being trapped.

  2. Hi Elizabeth. Yes attitude is everything in this life journey. I have tried to train my kids to have an attitude "A" everyday. Good choice for the A to Z first day. God bless, Maria

  3. It's our choice how to react! Thanks for the reminder to keep a good attitude in life's transitions, in joyful times and also during trials.

  4. Great blog post Elizabeth. Attitude is such a huge thing. It breaks my heart when people act like their circumstances are bigger then them or that they cannot overcome anything if they choose to do so. Attitude may not be everything but having a positive one sure does help.

  6. Great post Elizabeth. Our attitude in all things really does colour the way we experience life and the choices we make. There is a great quote from Henry Ford that sums this up nicely too - "Whether you think you can, or think you can't - you're right." Attitude is everything.

  7. Well said, I always hated when they let off easy on someone because "they are a product of their environment". Sure, that may be why they are, but it was still a choice to be like that.

  9. Attitude makes such a difference. I chose attitude for my A-letter too, but from the perspective of conflict (http://www.conflicttango.com). I agree with you about our ability to choose. Nice post.
