It's Summer!

Image
It's not Christmas, or Halloween or even autumn, it is still summer according to my calendar.  So why, why, why can't we all enjoy these last few precious days of my favorite season without all of the reminders that autumn and the holiday season are coming?

I'm a future-oriented, looking-ahead kind of woman with generally a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C in place.  It is completely not in my nature to live in and savor the moment, but when it comes to summer, I hang on with my fingernails.

However, the sun is shining, the temperatures are warm and I'm still wearing shorts.  Please join me in living and loving the last precious days of green-leafed trees, blooming roses and balmy breezes.  If it's a beautiful day where you are, I hope you'll enjoy it with me.

    1. They're fun aren't they? You would have to smile when you wore them.

  3. I feel the same way!! It seems that each season is Rushed with advertising and the push to get into the Next season, that we aren't allowed to savor the Present Moment! Especially Summer!! 8-/ Love it and it's always TOO short - Love the way you expressed it - ;-}

    1. Even though we broke some heat records this summer, I still love summer best! I agree waaay too short.

  4. Love the turquoise shoes and laces, very summery. Am I in denial of fall and winter around the corner? I just planted seeds in my new raised bed, actually hoping for a longer than usual stretch of warmer weather to give my seedlings a chance. It's a risk, but figured it was worth a try. With as hot as it has been here this summer, even the gal at the nursery said frost should be later than usual. So yes, I am still gardening, still have dirt in my fingernails like it was the middle of summer.

    1. Applause, applause! I planned to plant some fall lettuce, but just don't think I'll get to it. I didn't plant a garden this year and my raised beds have gotten quite weedy. A long, warm autumn would be fine with me.

  5. I saw Halloween junk at the store just today and thought - what? It always takes me by surprise. I guess summer doesn't "sell" enough stuff, the manufacturers have to move on to a more profitable season. But I'm with you...each season has it's gifts and they need to be fully enjoyed, and not rushed!
